v.80 Playtest Changelog - The Political Machine 2024

Hello all,

We are excited to share with you the first changelog of TPM 2024's playtest. Listed below, you'll find details on what content to expect in the private playtest.

02/26/24 | v0.81 Changelog

Core 

  • Fixed reported text typos, renaming cards and issues for clarity. 

  • Minor gameplay balancing. 

Political Action Cards 

  • Group endorsement cards descriptions renamed to make more sense. 

  • Added tooltip to show explanation of deck size in-game. 

  • Deck now refills and shuffles when you run out of card. 

Presidential Mode 

  • Updated electoral vote counts of to reflect 2024 numbers. 

  • 3 of D.C.’s votes are distributed between Virginia (2) and Maryland (1). 

Debates 

  • Balanced debates for responses and reactions to make more sense. 

Issue Modernization 

  • Renamed issue titles for clarity. 

States 

  • Balanced Wisconsin and Ohio to have a more even issue spread for Republicans and Democrats.

  • Washington now adjacently affects Alaska, California adjacently affects Hawaii.

Core 

  • Adds new game modes and features to this iteration. 

  • Improves on returning gameplay systems. Gameplay 

Gameplay 

Primaries Mode 

  • New primaries game mode added – play against 3 of your own party, whoever wins the most delegates wins. 

Political Action Cards 

  • New cards and card deck feature added.  

  • Play cards during your campaign to bolster your own polling or put your opponents in disarray. 

  • Every candidate has a deck based on their ideology. Pick your ideology in custom candidate select. 

  • New decks:

    • Trump Populism 

    • Biden Liberalism 

    • Establishment Republican 

    • Establishment Democrat 

    • Evangelical Conservatism 

    • Democratic Socialism 

Presidential Mode and Presidential Debates 

  • Presidential mode returns - run against the opposing party’s nominee and gather at least 270 on election night to become the president. 

  • New In Presidential Mode - Presidential Debates feature added – go to a battleground state, answer questions on hot issues, and attack your opponent. Candidates
